The Luminoth built machines to generate [[Portal]]s leading to [[Dark Aether]], which had the missing half of their planetary energy. The Luminoth developed the [[Energy Transfer Module]] to drain Dark Aether's energy, which would destroy Dark Aether if successful.<ref>{{cite|We were not prepared to fight a long war.
