Hopping Metroids are a variety of Metroids caused by Phazon mutation. They have lost the ability to levitate, but are still vulnerable to extreme cold. Hopping Metroids are found in only two locations in the game. One is in the landing area outside Generator B, where they spawn from a large mass. They are later encountered on Phaaze. Hopping Metroids are able to enter Hypermode, making them much stronger. Hopping Metroids are a relatively weak variety of Metroid.
